There
are plenty of walking trails around the Milani bush, much of which
is set aside as a bush conservation reserve. Wildlife and birds
abound, especially the platypus in the steam. You can follow some
of the marked trails or Lynne can guide you to several very different
ecosystems, each with its own distinctive flora
groupings. The natural undergrowth of flowering shrubs and in-tact
tree populations provide a safe home for a vast array of small birdlife
and is of special interest to international visitors. The rocky
undisturbed hilltops likewise provide an isolated nesting environment
for the larger birds including eagles and channel-billed cuckoos.
Because
much of the area has been isolated from human activity, plants,
birds and animals (echidnas, wallabies, kangaroos
etc) can be enjoyed in their natural state. You won't have to work
too hard to catch a glimpse of our platypus (we didn't call it Platypus
cabin for nothing). There's 8000 acres to explore so pack the binoculars,
the camera and the bird book and we guarantee you will be rewarded.
Guided
bushwalks range from easy to challenging and include refreshments
and lunch. One days notice is required for a guided catered walk
and prices are available on application.
